                  <s id="s.003636">I Tempij de gli Dei immortali ſi deono fare in modo, che guardino uerſo quel
                    <lb/>
                  le parti del cielo, che ſi conuiene, che (ſe ragione alcuna non impedirà, o li­
                    <lb/>
                  bero ſarà il potere) il ſimulacro, che ſarà poſto dentro la cella guardi uerſo
                    <lb/>
                  ponente, accioche, quelli, che entraranno allo altare per ſacriſicare, & con­
                    <lb/>
                  ſacrare le uittime, ſi uolgano uerſo l'Oriente, & uerſo il ſimulacro poſto nel Tempio, &
                    <lb/>
                  coſi uotandoſi riguardino il Tempio, & l'Oriente: & i ſimulachri come naſcenti parino
                    <lb/>
                  riguardare i ſupplicanti, & quelli, che fanno ſacrificio: percioche pare, che egli ſia ne­
                    <lb/>
                  ceſſario, che tutti gli altari de i Dei ſiano uolti all'Oriente. </s>
                  <s id="s.003637">Ma ſe la natura del luogo ci
                    <lb/>
                  ſarà d'impedimento, allhora ſi deono uoltare le fabriche de i Tempij in modo, che da quel
                    <lb/>
                  li ſi poſſa uedere la maggior parte della città. </s>
                  <s id="s.003638">& anche ſe lungo i Fiumi ſi faranno i Tem­
                    <lb/>
                  pij, come nello Egitto ſopra il Nilo, pare che le fabriche debbiano guardare uerſo le riue
                    <lb/>
                  de i fiumi. </s>
                  <s id="s.003639">ſimigliantemente ſe ſi faranno longo le uie publiche, deonſi porre in modo, che
                    <lb/>
                  i paſſaggieri poſsino riguardare, & fare le loro ſalutationi, & riuerenze dinanzi il conſpet­

                  <s id="s.003642">Guardino adunque le fronti de i Tempij uerſo ponente, perche gli altari,
                    <lb/>
                  & i ſimulacri come naſcenti Soli pareranno illuminare le menti de gli ſupplicanti. </s>

                  li, che ador auano i muti ſimulacri, & i Dei ſolo di nome, che haueuano lingua, & non par laua­
                    <lb/>
                  no, occhi, & non uedeuano, orecchie, & non udiuano, & che erano opere fatte di mano de gli

                  huomini, portati da un falſo errore, erano tanto riſpettoſi nelle loro cerimonie, & tanto diuoti;

                  che douemo far noi liberati da i maligni ſpiriti, che adoramo Dio uero, & honoramo i ſanti ami­
                    <lb/>
                  ci ſuoi Deiformi, non doue mo noi per l'abondanza del core, fare ogni dimoſtratione eſteriore, ac­

                  cioche ognuno ſi ſuegli, o s'infiammi piu al uero, & mental culto diuino?

                  <s id="s.003647">Qveſte ſono le ragioni delle porte, & delle loro impoſte, & ornamenti, che ſi
                    <lb/>
                  fanno dinanzi, a quelle. </s>
                  <s id="s.003648">Prima è neceſſario ſapere di che maniera ſi hanno a
                    <lb/>
                  fare. </s>
                  <s id="s.003649">Le maniere ſono tre. </s>
                  <s id="s.003650">Dorica, Ionica, Attica. </s>
                  <s id="s.003651">I compartimenti di
                    <lb/>
                  queſte, nella maniera Dorica ſi truouano con queſte ragioni, che la Corni=
                    <lb/>
                  ce ſomma, che è ſopra l'impoſta ſuperiore, ſia ad egual liuello con la ſommità de i capi­
                    <lb/>
                  telli delle colonne, che ſono nello Antitempio. </s>
                  <s id="s.003652">Il lume del portarle deue eſſere in mo­
                    <lb/>
                  do, che diuiſa l'altezza del Tempio, che è tral pauimento, & i lacunari in tre parti, & me­
                    <lb/>
                  za, due di quelle ſi diano all'altezza del lume delle porte. </s>
                  <s id="s.003653">Queſta altezza ſia partita in
                    <lb/>
                  dodici parti, & di quelle ſe ne diano cinque & meza per la larghezza del lume da baſſo. </s>
                  <s id="s.003654">ma
                    <lb/>
                  di ſopra ſia riſtretto in modo, che ſe il lume da baſſo è di piedi ſedici, ſia riſtretto un ter­
                    <lb/>
                  zo della impoſta, o erta che ſi chiame: ſe di ſedici a uenticinque, ſia la parte del lume ri­
                    <lb/>
                  ſtretta per un quarto della impoſta. </s>
                  <s id="s.003655">ſe da uenticinque a trenta, per la ottaua parte: ma nel
                    <lb/>
                  reſto quanto è l'altezza maggiore, tanto piu dritte, & a perpendicolo pare, che ſi debbia­
                    <lb/>
                  no porre le impoſte. </s>
