                  <s id="s.008155">MA ſe porre in opera uorremo coſe di maggior peſo, o grandezza, non douemo
                    <lb/>
                  fidarci de molinelli: ma ſi come il mol nello nelle orecchie è contenuto, co­
                    <lb/>
                  ſi in queſto caſo biſogna, che nelle orecchie u'entri un perno, nel mezo del
                    <lb/>
                  quale ci ſia un Timpano, che alcuni ruota, i Greci Ampheureſin, altri Peri­
                    <lb/>
                  trochio detto hanno, & in queſte machine le taglie uanno ad un'altro modo: perche & di
                    <lb/>
                  ſotto, & di ſopra hanno due ordini de raggi, & in tal modo il menale ſi fa trapaſſare nel
                    <lb/>
                  foro della taglia di ſotto, che i due capi ſieno eguali quando la fune ſarà ſteſa, & iui lungo
                    <lb/>
                  la taglia inferiore attorchiata una cordicella, et legate
                    <expan abbr="amēdue">amendue</expan>
                  le parti della fune ſieno con
                    <lb/>
                  tenute in modo, che non poſsino uſcire nè dalla deſtra, nè dalla ſiniſtra: fatto queſto i
                    <lb/>
                  capi della fune ſi riportano alla taglia di ſopra nella parte eſteriore, & ſono mandati giu
                    <lb/>
                  dal d'intorno de'raggi inferiori di quella & ritornano di nuouo a baſſo, & s'inueſteno nel
                    <lb/>
                  la taglia diſotto a raggi dalla parte interiore, & ſi riportano dalla deſtra, & dalla ſiniſtra
                    <lb/>
                  al Timpano che è nel perno, & iui ſi annodano: dipoi d'intorno al Timpano un'altra fune
                    <lb/>
                  ſi riporta all'argana. </s>
                  <s id="s.008156">queſta uoltata a torno riuolgendo il Timpano, & il perno, fa che le
                    <lb/>
                  funi legate al perno ſi ſtendino parimente, & coſi dolcemente ſenza pericolo leuano i pe­
                    <lb/>

                  <s id="s.008157">Ma ſe la machina hauerà un Timpano maggiore, o nel mezo, o in una eſtremità cal­
                    <lb/>
                  candoui in eſſo gli huomini, ſenza la manifattura dell'argana potrà hauer. </s>

                  Tutta la difficultà d'intender bene l'artificio della ſopraſcritta machina, è poſta nell'ordimento
                    <lb/>
                  delle funi. </s>
                  <s id="s.008160">Vitr. dice prima l'effetto ſuo, che è di leuar peſi di maggior importanza, che la ma­
                    <lb/>
                  china poſta al ſecondo Cap. </s>
                  <s id="s.008161">Poi dimoſtra il modo di fabricarla: chiama egli colloſſicotera quelle
                    <lb/>
                  coſe che & di peſo, & di grandezza eccedono l'ordinario: ſi come coloſſi dette ſono le grandiſſi­

                  me ſtatue, & che ſono di molto maggior miſura della conſueta. </s>
