                  La natura maeſtra ci inſegna come hauemo a reggercinel compartimento delle fabriche: impe

                  roche non da altro ella uuole, che impariamo le ragioni delle ſimmetrie, che nelle fabri­

                  che de i tempij uſar douemo, che dal ſacro tempio fatto ad imagine, & ſimiglianza di Dio,
                    <lb/>
                  che è l'huomo, nella cui compoſitione tutte le altre merauiglie di natura ſono compreſe. </s>

                  rò con ſaggio auuedimento tolſero gli antichi ogni ragione del miſurare dalle parti del corpo hu
                    <lb/>
                  mano, doue molto a propoſito Vitruuio dice, che opera niuna può hauere ragione di componi
                    <lb/>
                  mento, ſe prima non hauerà riguardo alla ſimmetria delle membra humane. </s>
                  <s id="s.002439">Io proponerò al­
                    <lb/>
                  cune diſtintioni, accioche meglio s'intenda quello, che dice Vitr. </s>
                  <s id="s.002440">Di tre maniere s'intende mi­
                    <lb/>
                  ſura. </s>
                  <s id="s.002441">Primieramente quando una coſa è piu perſetta, chele altre ſotto un'iſteſſo genere, quel
                    <lb/>
                  la ſi dice miſura di perfettione. </s>
                  <s id="s.002442">in queſto modo l'huomo fra tutti gli animali eſſendo il piu perfet­
                    <lb/>
                  to, ſi puo dire, che egli ſia miſura di tutti gli animali. </s>
                  <s id="s.002443">chiamaſi poi miſura d'agguaglianza,
                    <lb/>
                  quando la miſura contiene la coſa miſurata a punto, come un'orna di uino, ſi chiama miſu­
                    <lb/>
                  ra, perche tiene a punto tanto uino, quanto cape. </s>
                  <s id="s.002444">In ſomma poi chiamamo miſura quella quan­
                    <lb/>
                  tità, che preſa piu fiate miſura il tutto, come dicemo la canna miſurare il panno. </s>
                  <s id="s.002445">Di queſta noi
                    <lb/>
                  parlamo, queſta è quella, che è ſtata preſa dalla miſura della perfettione, che è l'huomo, tra gli ani
                    <lb/>
                  mali, da gli antichi. </s>
                  <s id="s.002446">Onde miſurare non è altro, che far manifeſta una quantità prima non conoſciu
                    <lb/>
                  ta, con una
                    <expan abbr="quãtità">quantità</expan>
                  certa, et conoſciuta: et però
                    <expan abbr="cōragione">cor ragione</expan>
                  dalle parti dell'huomo ſono ſtate piglia­
                    <lb/>
                  te le miſure delle coſe, et le ragioni di quelle miſure: et è ragioneuole, che dalla teſta ſi pigli la mi
                    <lb/>
                  ſura del tutto, eſſendo poſto nella teſta il ualore di tutti i ſentimenti humani, come coſa piu nobi
                    <lb/>
                  le, et principale, et piu manifeſta. </s>
                  <s id="s.002447">Vitruuio uuole, che l'huomo ſia di dieci teste, ſe per teſta
                    <lb/>
                  egli s'intende dal mento al naſcimento de i capelli: et uuole anche, che ſia di otto teſte, ſe per
                    <lb/>
                  teſta egli s'intende lo ſpacio, che è dal mento al ſommità del capo. </s>
                  <s id="s.002448">Gli antichi oltra la propor
                    <lb/>
                  tione attendeuano alla gratia per ſatisfare allo aſpetto, et però faceuano i corpi alquanto gran
                    <lb/>
                  di, le teſte picciole, la coſcia lunga: nel che era poſto la ſueltezza: parlo hora de i corpi perfet
                    <lb/>
                  ti: perche altra miſura conuiene ad un corpo puerile, altra ad un corpo aſciutto, o graſſo, o te­
                    <lb/>
                  nue, che ſi uoglia ſignere. </s>
                  <s id="s.002449">Amauano gli antichi ſtando nelle miſure conuenienti, la lunghezza,
                    <lb/>
                  et la ſottigliezza di alcune parti: parendo loro di dare non ſo che piu di leggiadro alle opere. </s>
                  <s id="s.002450">et
                    <lb/>
                  però ſe bene dalla raſcetta, che è la piegatura della mano, alla ſommità del dito di mezo uole­
                    <lb/>
                  uano, che tanto fuſſe dal mento alla ſommità della fronte, nientedimeno per la detta cagione
                    <lb/>
                  faceuano la mano, et le dita alquanto piu lunghe. </s>
                  <s id="s.002451">il Filandro auuertiſce, et bene, che non
                    <lb/>
                  puo ſtare quello, che dice Vitruuio, che il petto ſia la quarta parte; et uuole, che quando
                    <lb/>
                  Vitruuio d ce, che il cubito ſia la quarta parte, egli intenda non dalla giuntura del comito alla
                    <lb/>
                  raſcetta, ma dalla giuntura del comito alla ſommità del dito di mezo. </s>

                  <s id="s.002455">Queſta eſſer la forma del corpo humano perfetto. </s>
                  <s id="s.002456">la faccia è la decima di tutta la

                  lunghezza dal naſcimento de i capelli all eſtremo del pollice del piede. </s>
                  <s id="s.002457">la faccia ſi diuide in
                    <lb/>
                  tre parti eguagli, l'una ſi fa dalla radice de i capelli alla ſommità del naſo: l'altra è la lun­
                    <lb/>
                  ghezza del naſo: la terza è dal fine del naſo al mento. </s>
                  <s id="s.002458">la lunghezza della bocca è eguale alla
                    <lb/>
                  lunghezza dell'occhio, et la lunghezza dell'occhio è quanto lo ſpacio da un'occhio all'altro:

                  di modo, che in tre parti ſi diuida lo ſpacio, che è dall'uno angulo dell'occhio allo angulo dell'al
                    <lb/>
                  tro, cioè due occhi, et lo ſpacio, che ui è di mezo: et tutto queſto è doppio alla lunghezza del
                    <lb/>
                  naſo. </s>
