                  è che Vitr. uuole, che le Torri dalla parte di dentro ſiano aperte, accioche leuate quelle traui,

                  & que ponti, lo inimico uedendo il grande precipitio non ſi metta a uoler paſſare da una mura­
                    <lb/>
                  glia all' altra. </s>
                  <s id="s.001100">per queſto ſi uede, che meglio ſaria ſtato per lo inimico battere una torre, che la mu

                  raglia. </s>
                  <s id="s.001101">perche tagliata o rotta la torre, baueuano il reſtante libero, & aperto per entrar den­

                  tificationi, & in altre belle arti, che le torri che erano, o doueuano eſſere ſerrate da piedi di mu

                  ro alto almeno per la metà dell' altezza della cortina, haueuano quel muro che le ſerraua groſſo

                  da piedi a baſtanza per impedimento delle zappe, ma poi uenendo uerſo la cima ſi faceua piu ſtret

                  <s id="s.001103">la torre poi douena nel mezo eſſere profonda molto, & eguale al meno al fondo de i precipi­

                  tij, & ſe per caſo lo inimico fuße, rompendo la torre, per entrarui dentro, egli era ſottopoſto

                  ad una infinità di offeſe, sì da quelli, che ſtauano di ſopra nelle torri, come da quelli, che da ogni

                  lato ſtauano ſopra le mura, come ſteſſero quelli palchi, o contignatione, che dice Vitr. per ſicur

                  tà di quelle, che difendeuano le torri, & che facilmente ſi poteßero leuare, altri uno, altri al­

                  tro modo hanno trouato, nè ſopra queſto c'è da diſputare qual ſia piu uicino alla mente di Vitr. eſ

                  ſendo libero ad ognuno di affermare qual modo gli piace. </s>
